Hi everyone,

Here is the FAQ regarding the announcement made earlier today. Please note that I will be updating this post accordingly over time, so treat this as a living document. I will update this thread to indicate when this post is edited, so you know when updates are made.

Why make this change so close to the original launch date?

As a team, we take our date commitments very seriously, and everyone who works on SWTOR has been working extremely hard to deliver as wed originally planned. This being our anniversary, we really wanted to share the awesome updates in LotS with all of you to celebrate, so we kept moving forward toward that goal as long as possible; but in the end the most important thing is quality, not the calendar.

Why delay for two months?

There isnt any significant bug or single issue that brought this decision about. Ultimately, we want to give the team more time to add polish and to find and fix bugs to ensure we release 7.0 at maximum quality. We also want to do more to include all of you in that process were very excited to have this chance to share more on the PTS, so that we can get your feedback and show you some of the changes that have already been implemented based on your past feedback.

As mentioned, the team has been working really hard to create Legacy of the Sith, and they deserve a chance to rest and recharge. Our chosen timeframe will allow the team to take a meaningful holiday break, and still have significant polish time before release.

How does this affect Conquest?

Total Galactic War will be included in the rotation and will run:
  • December 21, 2021
  • January 4, 2022
  • January 18, 2022.
  • Note: The biggest relevant change is Personal Conquest requiring 100k points instead of 50k. Keep that in mind for the Conquest starting February 8th.

Whats happening with Ranked PvP Season 14?

As season 14 rewards are tied to 7.0, the current season will continue as-is, ending with the release of 7.0 on February 15, and rewards will be distributed normally when 7.0 launches in February.

Are the R-4 Anomaly Operation and the daily area for Manaan still launching after Legacy of the Sith?

Yes. We will want to give players time to be able to gear accordingly so these will be launching post Legacy of the Sith as originally intended. These are intended to be available for testing in a 7.1 PTS cycle. Exact date TBD.

Whats happening with events and their rewards? Any chance for double XP or something extra?

All of the planned new rewards will not be released as they are tied into 7.0. With that in mind here is the plan for each event:
  • Life Day will run from December 14, 2021 to January 11, 2022 with current rewards.
  • The 10-Year Anniversary event will be running for a full year! From December 14, 2021 to January, 2023.
  • All existing anniversary rewards will be available on the vendor.
  • The new planned rewards will be added to the vendor in February with 7.0, including the contest winning decos!
  • We will inform players when new rewards will be added.
Additional events?!
  • Our Double XP event (which also includes Renown, Requisition, and Valor) will return from December 20, 2021 - January 4, 2022.
  • All 3 weeks of Feast of Prosperity will return at the following cadence:
  • Week 1: January 11, 2022 January 18, 2022
  • Week 2: January 18, 2022 - January 25, 2022
  • Week 3: January 25, 2022 - February 1, 2022
Whats happening with PTS?

Were opening PTS back up this week! 7.0s features will be present to test during this PTS cycle, with the exception of any that would spoil the story content, of course. This upcoming phase will include Loadouts and Character Creation and also all recent updates we have made since the close of the previous phase.

Whats the PTS schedule?

We will be updating our Public Test Server forum with updates as they happen. PTS will remain open until approximately mid-January as needed.

What does this mean for Galactic Seasons 2?

As Galactic Season 2 is tied to 7.0, it will not be available until Legacy of the Sith launches. However, it will be available on the PTS in the coming weeks.

Hi all,

As mentioned earlier, Chris has only ever repeated info that was stated previously and has cited where that info can be found. He has brought your concerns and feedback to the team through his interactions with you all in a variety of sources. While we welcome your feedback, negativity specifically targeting a dev isn't tolerated. This is no different than when players go beyond difference of opinion and debate with each other. Please be mindful of this when posting here in the forums.

Thank you,
Jackie

Hi all,

I wanted to jump in and try and clarify some of the potential confusion in this thread.

There are two different topics here: The ability for existing players to change the Combat Style upon logging in to the 7.0 Game Update, and the rules around characters with Force Origin Stories when they are offered an option to swap Combat Styles with their opposite-aligned mirror.

Existing Characters and Combat Styles
  • As Jackie posted, we fully intended for current characters to be able to choose a preferred Combat Style upon logging in for Game Update 7.0. We have worked for some time to try and make this happen, but recently ran into some technical hurdles that unfortunately prevents us from supporting this. So, as a result, when you log into the game after 7.0, your primary Combat Style will be your current Advanced Class. Choosing your Advanced Class was designed to be a permanent choice, and we will continue this with Combat Styles. We have no current plans to introduce a method to change one of your Combat Styles.
  • As we previously stated, the ability to have a second Combat Style and the additional Loadouts that come with it are features for active subscribers. Related to this topic, we did see a question being asked of what happens to my second Combat Style if my subscription lapses?. In short, your second Combat Style will become unusable including its Loadouts. Note the quotations around the word second. If your subscription lapses, your useable Combat Style will be the one you last logged out on when the cancellation hits your account. This means that if you log out on your primary Combat Style, you will continue to be able to play with that one and its Loadouts. If you log out on your secondary Combat Style, you will continue to be able to play with that one and its Loadouts. Essentially, whichever Combat Style is active when your sub lapses is the one you will continue to use when you log back in.

Force Origin Story Considerations
  • Force Origin Stories have some special considerations, since there are some restrictions in Combat Style choice that Tech Origin Stories do not share.
  • To a brand new player, or a player who has not unlocked their Dark V/Light V achievements in their Legacy (Legacy of Sacrifice and Legacy of Unity), they are not presented with the option to choose an opposite-aligned Combat Style at character create nor when they unlock their second Combat Style, with one exception:
    • If a player without these unlocks has been playing their character with opposite aligned morality, such as a Jedi Origin Story as a Dark Side character, or a Sith Origin Story as a Light Side character, they will receive the option to swap their current Combat Style to the opposite alignment equivalent upon completing their Act 3 story. In addition, when they are prompted to select their second Combat Style, they will have all Force Combat Styles available to them.
  • Force Origin Story players who have already unlocked Light V/Dark V achievements will not see any restrictions, and all Combat Styles are available to them at both character create and when choosing their second Combat Style

There has been no change in the design of the Force Origin Story Considerations, which was first shared in this post. You can listen to me talking about all of these restrictions, and expand on why and the philosophy behind these decisions in the linked podcast in the post.

However, to build upon Jackies clarification post here, we wanted to give Force Origin Story players some choice when the 7.0 update releases. So all pre-7.0 Force characters that have opposite alignment to their current class will be given the option to swap their primary combat style to the opposite aligned equivalent upon logging in post-7.0.

This means if you are a Jedi Knight or Jedi Consular, and have at least 1 Dark Side point away from 0, you will be given this choice. Likewise, if you are a Sith Warrior or Sith Inquisitor, and have at least 1 Light Side point away from 0, you will be given this choice. This will be regardless of any Legacy unlocks or otherwise. Once that character is in the game, and the swap choice has been made or refused, the rules as described above will still apply.

Finally, I wanted to address some comments around my clarifications in Discord about the above topic. What I stated in this post is still true. I have recently been trying to clarify confusion around swapping Force Combat Styles by repeating the same information we revealed in the podcast and linked in the official forums. I will typically include a link to the official sources to reinforce where this information originated from. Any new information around Combat Styles or any other topic will be shared through official channels such as our blogs, the forums, our livestreams, etc and those mediums will be used to reinforce or clarify any questions being answered elsewhere.

Thanks,
-Chris

Hi everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to address some points/thoughts I believe will be made in response to Chris' post, so I hope you'll allow me to have a more heart to heart moment with you all. I recognize how late this post is being made and what day it's being made on. This is not an attempt to bury information or hope that no one will notice it. We were working on reading the various posts about this topic, taking in the feedback, and making sure that the message was concise and clear. I recommended the post be made today rather than let the weekend pass because we felt this clarification would be beneficial to players reading it.

I know how passionate this player base is because you all love this game very much. And I know that difference of opinion tends to happen as does debate, especially on these forums. I just ask that you continue to be civil with one another and also with us and be mindful of the guidelines of these forums. Thank you.

Best,
Jackie

Hi Ahsokatanoeses,

For Cartel Coins issues, you should directly contact our Support Team by phone: How to contact STAR WARS: The Old Republic (SW:TOR) support.

If you think someone has access to your account, you should also resecure your SWTOR account by changing your password and making sure your email address is also secured. You can also add the Security Key, here is our article with the instructions on how to do that: SW:TOR Security Key.

Hi Sazodeha,

The bug you're reporting on the crafting nodes is a known issue.

As your thread is a duplicate of the main one: Crafting node glitched?, I'm closing your thread to avoid multiple threads about the same subject.

I will update players in the thread mentioned above when I have more information.

Our team is still looking into the known issue players with a 12th gen Intel CPU (ex.: i7-12700K Processor "Alder Lake") and Windows 10 or 11 installations encounter.

For now, there is no additional information to provide. I'll update you when I know more.

Hi all,

For transparency and context for those who are reading the dev tracker only, the choosing your Combat Style for existing characters text being referenced in this thread is from the Separating Story and Gameplay article that was published a while go.

There's been an update to this. We originally planned to allow players to switch their primary combat style with existing characters upon loading up 7.0, unfortunately we discovered some technical hurdles that will prevent us from supporting that. So upon login, existing characters will maintain their existing Advanced Class, which will be converted into their first Combat Style. And eligible players will still be free to choose their second Combat Style.

The original article has been updated to reflect this.

To clear up some confusion we're reading, Force users will be able to change their first Combat Style to its mirror if they meet the Light or Dark-side alignment requirements to do so. That has not changed.

It is possible! The team has been working to identify appearances that are no longer available to return as cosmetics. We appreciate players identifying any they know.

The bug will unfortunately still be present. This is a large factor we take into consideration in our goal of releasing appearance specific cosmetics for players in the future.

Of course that doesnt mean that everyones outfits wont be reset with this new UI. I too have thought that could be definite possibility.

I wonder if we can ask JackieKo to double check that for us so we know to write down what our outfits are or take screen shots before the expansion.

Ive 16 outfits per Alt and Ive 80+ Alts with distinct outfits. I would be very annoyed if I lost them without being able to screen shot each one to remake them.

So Jackie, if youre still reading, can you please check to confirm we will or wont need to remake our outfits.
Hey Trixxie,

Confirming that no existing Outfitter designers will be lost with 7.0, so you will not need to remake them.
