First... how did such an obvious issue get pushed to live? Wasnit a QA issue? Time crunch issue? Second... Is this the "real" issue or a band-aid?

I ask number 2 because sometimes the "real" cause is unknown at first but you know you have to at least address the symptoms. If you do not know the real cause of the issue you have to make a fix that works "for now"

I ask the second question because this change will be a rather large shock to some and people can only sustain so many of them.
Hey Ghisallo,

Good questions, let me take a stab at them.

First answer - This wasn't a QA issue as it isn't a bug. Our goal with Fallen Empire was to ensure that all of our story content was very accessible to all players, new and old. The power of Companions was certainly a part of that, and so we do want them to be strong. However, we went a bit too far on the strong side, and need to bring that back in line.

Second answer - You can kind of see from the first answer that this will work to fix the issue and not be a band-aid as it is just a question of balancing. Now, it is always possible we will make future tweaks, but this should bring Companions more in line. They will still be strong, but they will not overshadow the power of a player.

Datamined Content

Hey folks,

I wanted to post a reminder, discussion of datamined content is not permitted on the forums. Doing so can lead to action being taken against your account up to and including infractions, which lead to suspension time.

Let's cover the elephant in the room. Yes, Companion power and healing is being reduced in 4.0.2 tomorrow. Tait will be posting patch notes and we will be discussing these changes more later today. However, until that time, please remember that posting any type of specifics about these changes are datamined and are not permitted.

Thanks everyone.

#10 KOTFE Level 60 character creation is bugged

Hey everyone!

Over the past few days weve seen a marked increase in the number of players submitting Start@60 tickets related to getting their tokens returned, including a number of people who deleted level 61-65 characters expecting to get a token back. So, to reiterate what Eric explained, but also to try and clarify what to expect, heres a list of things to consider:
  1. If you are subscribed using a 7-day Referral, you are not eligible for KotFE, nor do you receive a Start@60 token. If you convert to a full subscription, KotFE, 2 additional character slots and a Start@60 token will then be granted to your account.
  2. If you use the token and level the character to 61 or higher, you are no longer eligible for a token refund. Deleting your character at that point is the same as deleting any other character you have created. If you need to restore one of these characters, you will have to submit a request to Customer Service.
  3. If you did delete a Level 61 or higher character and thought you would have your token returned, please be aware that Customer Service will simply restore the character you deleted. Due to the number of people who made this mistake, its going to take a number of days to get through the queue. Please be patient.
  4. If you again delete the character restored by Customer Service, thinking it will generate a new token, weve instructed Customer Service not to restore the character a second time. This is the same policy followed for all character restorations. Please use caution when deleting your characters (this is one of the key reasons we ask you to type DELETE before we actually remove a character from your list).
  5. Submitting multiple tickets about the same issue will not help your situation. Tickets are being handled in the order they were received, but submitting a new ticket may lower your priority in the queue. We are working closely with Customer Service to get everyones tickets handled. Again, please continue to be patient.

Thanks for your understanding!

Subscriber Rewards Survey

Hey folks!

One of the things our team is exploring is to continue giving increased value to your subscription time. Example being the additional rewards we issued each month of being a subscriber leading up to Fallen Empire's launch. After some internal discussion, we decided, why not just go to the source to get some of your feedback as well!

At the bottom of this post you will find a link to a survey which will get your insights into the types of things you like, and would like to see as a subscriber reward. If you have time please take a few minutes and fill out the survey.

Thanks everyone!

These 4 threads all ask the same questions, can we get answers?

I talked to Matt about Alliance, Companions, and your questions specifically related to accessing future Companions. Between this thread and the ones linked in the OP, I think there are two main questions you are looking to have addressed.

Will I need to complete currently available alert Missions to unlock future alert Missions?
As of right now, the answer to this is yes. Inside of each Alliance Companion type (Military, Underworld, etc), the Companion recruitment alerts are very much looked at like a Mission chain. Generally, you must complete one alert Mission before you will receive the next. Note that you only need to complete the Mission itself, not necessarily recruit any Companion associated with it. There may be exceptions to this later on, for story reasons, but this is the general rule right now. It is worth noting that this is something the dev team is talking about, so it could change, but this is how it works right now.

Will I need to PvP for future Companions / Will I need to unlock Companions like Pierce to access future Companions?
The answer to your question is maybe. We are open to the possibility of future PvP related Companions/Mission content which could require the completion of M1-4X/Pierce's Missions. That said, we would not likely have PvE related content require it.

I think that should answer the primary questions that you have! Let me know if anything requires further clarification. Thanks!

Hey folks,

Quite a few of the CS tickets we are receiving are from players who are looking to get their start at 60 tokens back from characters that they actually wouldn't be refunded normally. Remember, once a character has reached level 61, you will not receive a refund on that token if you delete the character. CS cannot refund those tokens.

If you deleted a character before it hit level 61, then you should get the token refunded. If that did not happen, then please reach out to CS. Thanks everyone.

Hey folks,

Quick note for you. About an hour from the time of this post, anyone who had a start at 60 ticket sitting with CS will have that ticket closed, on the assumption that the issue is now resolved. You will receive an automated response/email from CS noting that is the case. If you still have missing tokens, please submit a new ticket to CS and they will work on getting you fixed.

Thanks everyone.

Hey folks!

We just ran a script which will have corrected all remaining users who were not being re-granted their tokens. Please check your account and ensure that this is the case. It is possible there are still some outlying users who have not received their tokens back, if you feel you are one of them please contact CS.

Thanks everyone.

Hey folks!

Quick update... We believe we have a solution for those of you who have not had your tokens returned. We are exploring it now with the hope of pushing it out later this afternoon (it won't require maintenance or anything). I will update you later on with the status of getting your issues resolved.

As a reminder, if you have already submitted a CS ticket, hold tight! There is no reason to submit a second ticket at this time.

Thanks everyone.

Hey folks,

We have continued to investigate start at 60 based on the reports in this thread. We can confirm there is an on-going issue for some players where their start at 60 tokens did not get restored to them after we fixed the overall issue last Friday. This seems to be only affecting players who used a token later in the week or who were extra aggressive in creating and deleting the Level 1 characters. In any case, we are aware of the issue and will ensure people in this situation will receive their missing token or tokens (if appropriate).

In the meantime, if you havent already submitted an in-game ticket to CS, please do so. Make sure to mention start at 60 in your ticket. Please note, at this time CS is not responding to those tickets as we are exploring a more global fix, however it is important that you have a ticket submitted so we can track users who are in this state. Please dont submit more than one ticket about this issue as its not necessary.

This may take a few days, but I will pass on further updates as I have them. Again, none of your tokens are lost and we will get them back to you ASAP!

Thanks everyone.

Hey folks,

The issues that many of you were experiencing when making a start at 60 character should now be resolved. We will be restoring the start at 60 token to the Cartel Market shortly. There are multiple different scenarios that your character and start at 60 tokens could be in, I want to cover each of them and what it means for you.
  • I made a start at 60 character, but instead it created a level 1 character and put me on the fleet. I then deleted that character, but my start at 60 token was not restored.
    • You should now see your tokens restored to you when you are at Character select. You can create a level 60 normally now.
  • I made a start at 60 character, but instead it created a level 1 character and put me on the fleet. I did not yet delete that character.
    • If you delete that character, your start at 60 token will be restored to you automatically and you can create your level 60 normally now.
If you still feel you are missing tokens, please contact CS. Thank you all for your patience as we worked through this issue.
