#2 Lets Chat Cartel Market and You: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Category Packs

Thank you all for your responses. This is exactly the kind of dialogue I hoped for. Let me try to reiterate some of the issues youre bringing up.

Firstly, I understand that there is some question as to why certain packs, we call them Category packs, dont have a Bronze, Silver or Gold quality pack type. The answer is that some item categories such as Emotes, Titles and Toys had too few items of each quality type to warrant a separate pack. So we combined them into one pack containing all quality types.

Secondly, you feel the contents of the Bronze, Silver, and Gold packs (BSG packs) should be listed in some way so you can see what items you have a chance of getting. Generally, you feel the concept of BSG packs are valuable, you just want to know more about whats in them so you can make your purchase accordingly.

Additionally, keep in mind that the contents of these packs will change. Each time we release a new pack, we add the items contained in that pack to the appropriate BSG or Category pack. For example, the Gold Armor pack contains the Gold armor sets contained in the Force Alliance pack. When the Underworld Alliance pack is released, we update the Gold Armor pack to include the Gold armor sets from the Underworld Alliance pack. This is true for BSG Mount and BSG Decoration packs. Likewise, any Toys, Crystals, Titles, Weapons etc., included in the currently released pack will be added to their respective category packs. This means that when a pack is no longer available, the items from those packs are still available in their respective BSG or category packs.

Finally, you feel the pricing isnt what you would like and I appreciate the examples and comparisons some of your posts provide.

I want to thank you guys for taking time to make your posts. They are well thought-out and constructive. Ill continue to monitor them and communicate your feedback to the team, so keep it up. I also want to assure you that it is always our goal is to make your Cartel Market experience a fun and exciting addition to Star Wars: The Old Republic. I truly believe achieving that goal is an iterative process that requires great communication like were having now.

New Packs are bugged and give 90% Bronze items

Hey folks,

We wanted to make sure to jump in the thread and clarify, the drop rates that you experienced in that Hypercrate are not a bug. Unfortunately the information provided by CS from that in-game ticket was in error, and we are working with them to adjust any miscommunication. Keep in mind that with 4.0 there were changes to the items that are found in each pack, with the goal of getting you better quality items overall. This morning one of our Cartel Market Designers, Toby McCall, posted two threads looking for feedback on these very changes. If you feel unhappy with the results of buying packs, or a Hypercrates, definitely head on over to those threads and give your feedback.

Apologies for any confusion, thanks!

Hi everyone,

Im Toby McCall, a designer on Star Wars: The Old Republic and a member of the Cartel Market Design Team. Ive asked community to set up this thread so we can discuss the changes that the 4.0 expansion brings to the Cartel Market. My hope for this post is to create a place where we can answer some of your questions and clear up any confusion surrounding the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Category Packs in Fallen Empire. We would like to focus this thread specifically around the new Armor, Mount, Decoration, and other Category packs (Crystals, Dyes, Weapons, etc), all of which have been packaged into Bronze, Silver, and Gold varieties. If you have thoughts on the new Underworld Alliance pack design, I invite you to join the discussion in a separate thread, found here.

How do the new Bronze, Silver, and Gold Packs feel? Do you feel they are worth their cost? What suggestions do you have?
What are your thoughts on the new Category packs? Do you enjoy opening them? If so, what do you enjoy most? If not, what do you like least?
Are you more or less likely to purchase packs from the Market and why?
Can you share any experiences or first impressions youve had with the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Category packs?

As always, lets try to keep the posts constructive and on point. If you havent had a chance to read the blog post about the 4.0 changes to the Cartel Market, you can find that here.

Heres a few prompts to start the conversation:

Yup! Trooper login issues should also be resolved with the patch. As an update, it is looking like the patch may go out within the next hour or two. I will post in this thread once it is out!

Yes, it appears that it should correct this issue. We will still keep an eye on it after the patch goes live as well.

Patch Distribution Issue

Hey folks,

After investigation, we found an issue with patch distribution that occurred during maintenance this morning. Some players will be getting a new patch later this evening (roughly 6-8 hours from now). There will be no downtime associated with this, and you will be able to play the game up until that point. Players using the streaming client will not download anything further.

Some of you have noticed that there are certain fixes that are listed in the Patch Notes that only some players have. Tonights patch will resolve that issue and ensure that all the fixes in the patch reach everyone.

Thanks!

The team is looking into this issue!

What is your Character and Server? Which Mission are you supposed to have, but don't? Alternatively, what was the last Class Arc Mission you completed?

Thanks!

Hey all!

We are currently investigating the issues with Chapter VII. If you're having issues progressing through Chapter VII: Lady of Sorrows, please answer the following to help us find the issue:
  • What Class are you attempting the Chapter on?
  • Were you in the Chapter prior to today's maintenance? If so, how far into it?

Thanks!
